Growing up, I was not what you would call an artist. Photography was not a profession I chose. It chose me.

I was asked to take pictures at a track and field event. The coach wanted photographs for the school's yearbook. So I agreed to take a few pictures not realizing what the day would bring.

So not really knowing what to do, I followed and stood close to the other photographers.  As the runners approached the finish line, instinct took over. I rapidly started taking photographs hoping to get one or two that were in focus and people would like.

By sheer luck, my camera was pointed in the right direction. I photographed the winner and she was from our school. She started jumping up and down hugging her friends. The tears ran down her cheeks. The rest of her team joined in celebration. She kept repeating over and over, "I can't believe I just won, I never thought I would win this year". 

I was hooked. 

What was as a track & field event, grew into a passion and never stopped growing. I enjoy capturing people's special occasions. This can range from a wedding to photographing a one year old eating his or her cake on their birthday. These are precious moments and I have the privilege of freezing that moment in time. 

I believe our lives create stories. Some stories serve as lessons and some simply make us smile and cry. But its your story and its precious to you.
